Sabbath, October 17, 2026, was a day of celebration and spiritual rejoicing at the Nepean Seventh-day Adventist Church as nine young people publicly declared their faith in Jesus Christ through baptism, while another individual joined the church through profession of faith. Among those baptised, seven were members of the Nepean Crusaders Pathfinder Club, highlighting the vital role of youth ministries in nurturing young disciples of Christ.
According to Church Pastor Bob Winsor, the occasion marked Nepean’s 20th baptism of 2026 and its 80th over the past eight years, a testament to the congregation’s ongoing commitment to evangelism and discipleship.
“I cannot overstate the importance of a mission-driven church with a culture of baptism,” Pastor Winsor shared. “Nor can I overstate the importance of ministries such as Pathfinders, who disciple our youth on a weekly basis.”
Church Elder Seth Amankwah played a significant role in preparing the candidates for baptism. Through his leadership of the baptismal class, he invested time in teaching and mentoring the young people, helping them deepen their relationship with Jesus and understand what it means to walk in newness of life in Christ. During the service, he also led the candidates in their baptismal vows.
One by one, the nine young people entered the baptismal waters and were baptised by Pastor Winsor in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each baptism was a powerful testimony of God's transforming grace and a public declaration of the candidates' decision to follow Jesus. It was a joyful occasion as the congregation witnessed these young believers begin a new chapter in their spiritual journey.
Following the sermon and benediction, the newly baptised members were presented to the congregation, welcomed into church membership, and lifted in prayer by Elder Amankwah. Each received a baptismal certificate and a rose in recognition of this significant milestone.
The seven newly baptised Pathfinders also received special recognition, including baptismal pins and gift bags presented by Area Coordinator Leon Watson and District Coordinator Vanessa Alexandre, with assistance from Club Director Michael Pappoe and Master Guides in uniform. In a touching expression of fellowship and support, fellow Pathfinders came forward to congratulate and welcome their newly baptised friends.
The celebration served as a beautiful reminder of the importance of intentional discipleship, faithful mentorship, and a church community committed to nurturing the faith of the next generation.
We invite the Ontario Conference family to keep these young believers in prayer as they continue to grow in God's grace, deepen their relationship with Jesus, and become active disciples who share His love and the hope of the gospel with others.
