Sometimes, the love of Christ is best expressed not only through words but also through simple acts of kindness. On October 11, 2026, that love was put into action as Pilgrim's Heart of Mission and the North Bay Seventh-day Adventist Church joined hands to serve the communities of Loring and North Bay, Ontario.
With a shared desire to serve others and demonstrate Christ's compassion, volunteers worked together to prepare and distribute at least 80 bags of food and other non-perishable items to individuals and families in both communities.
The outreach was coordinated through the dedicated efforts of Neng Nazareno, who leads Pilgrim's Heart of Mission, and Jim Bucci, who served as the main contact for the North Bay Seventh-day Adventist Church. Their collaboration, along with the support of volunteers, transformed a simple act of giving into a meaningful expression of Christian love.
The response from the community was heartwarming. Recipients expressed sincere gratitude for the food and kindness they received. Beyond meeting immediate physical needs, the outreach also opened doors for friendship, fellowship, and spiritual connection.
One of the most encouraging outcomes came the following Sabbath, when some of those who had received food bags accepted the invitation to attend the North Bay Seventh-day Adventist Church. True to their word, they came and joined the congregation for Sabbath worship.
Their presence was a beautiful reminder that when the church reaches out to the community with genuine love, hearts can be touched and meaningful relationships can begin to grow.
The spirit of generosity did not end with the initial distribution. Additional bread was provided for sharing with others in the community, extending the outreach's blessings even further.
This initiative beautifully reflects the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:35: "For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and you took Me in" (NKJV).
The outreach in Loring and North Bay reminds us that evangelism is not limited to preaching from a pulpit. Sometimes, it begins with a bag of groceries, a warm smile, a listening ear, or a simple act of compassion. These small gestures can become opportunities for people to experience the love of Jesus in personal and tangible ways.
The partnership between Pilgrim's Heart of Mission and the North Bay Seventh-day Adventist Church demonstrates what can happen when God's people unite with a common purpose: to serve their neighbours and share the hope found in Christ.
What began with the distribution of at least 80 bags of food became something much greater—an opportunity to build relationships, strengthen community connections, and open doors for sharing the gospel.
As the church continues its mission in Northern Ontario, this outreach serves as an encouraging reminder that the hands that share bread can also become instruments through which others experience the love of Christ.
To God be the glory for the lives touched and the doors opened through this ministry.
