Metro West Prison Ministry Convention Inspires Hope and Restoration
Posted: June 3rd, 2026

On May 29-30, 2026, members and guests gathered at Ruth Seventh-day Adventist Church to participate in the Metro West Prison Ministry Convention under the theme, “Restoring the Breach – Hope Beyond Bars.” The event was hosted by the Metro West Prison Ministry churches and supported by the Ontario Prison Ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The weekend began with an inspiring Friday evening service that prepared attendees for a memorable Sabbath experience. The guest speaker for the event was Pastor Christopher Clark Sr., Prison Ministries Director for the Lake Region Conference.
Pastor Clark shared his personal testimony of incarceration and how God delivered him, guiding his life through the work of the Holy Spirit. As he recounted his journey, the congregation listened attentively, eager to see how God had worked in his life and transformed his circumstances. Friday evening also featured a moving testimony from Jacqueline Hudson, who spoke of God's presence and comforting Spirit as her family navigates its own challenges and crises.
The Sabbath service can best be described as an encounter with the Holy Spirit. From beginning to end, every aspect of the worship experience pointed hearts toward God—from the entrance of the Pathfinders to the baptisms, to the uplifting ministry of the praise team. Each element helped prepare the congregation for the powerful message delivered by Pastor Clark.
His sermon was both potent and timely, reminding listeners that “you dug the hole yourself,” a message that challenged individuals to take responsibility for their choices while embracing God's power to redeem and restore. It was truly a message for the times in which we live.
Following the worship service, lunch was served, and attendees returned for an afternoon panel discussion. The panel explored the impact and blessings of prison ministry and highlighted the important role volunteers play in serving those who are incarcerated. Discussion also centred on the lasting influence of last year's CrossReach Convention and its positive effect on prison ministry throughout the province of Ontario.
We solicit your continued prayers as this ministry to the often-forgotten continues to grow and bring hope, healing, and restoration to lives both inside and outside prison walls.
Pastor Andrew King
Director, Ontario Conference Ministries of Compassion
